Where is Kafarkila?

Kafarkila, Kfarkila or Kfarkela is a small beautiful southern Lebanese village. It is about 96 km away from Beirut (Lebanon Capital). Kfarkila is popular for its high quality olive oil. It is rich with pre-historical temples and caves. It is was liberated from Israeli occupation on May 24, 2000 and later survived the five-week Israeli war against Lebanon ( July 12 to August 14, 2006).

Facts about Kafarkila

Kfarkila falls on Latitude 33.3 and Longitude 35.5. Standard time zone: UTC/GMT +2 hours. Neighboring towns are: Deir Mimas, Odaisa, Taiba, Khiyam, Al-Khirbah, Qleiya, Marijyoun. Kafarkila is an evergreen village due to its olive trees that spread across the village. Olive trees can grow to 50 ft. in height with a spread of about 30 ft. The tree can be kept to about 20 ft. with regular pruning. The graceful, billowing appearance of the olive tree can be rather attractive.

Lebanon is relatively a small country. Consequently, although Kafarkila lies on the southern borders, yet it takes about 1 hour and 30 minutes to reach Beirut by car, which makes residents working or studying at the capital visit their village more often during weekends.
